Discovering what drinks stain our teeth. WATER? SODA? APPLE JUICE?

I boiled 3 eggs and had them sitting in a bowl with the specified drink. The only drink that did not stain was water. 

The children practiced brushing teeth on the hard boiled eggs.

LIFE SKILL- Science experiment 

The children discovered that there are foods that stick more to teeth than others. They ate an apple slice, then examined their teeth and brushed the remnants. Then they ate an Oreo cookie, boy was that a mess! They were not allowed to leave this center until they successfully brushed all the chocolate off their teeth. It was great practice. One of my kids said this is taking forever. I replied with, "we have to take our time brushing our teeth. Sometimes it's hard to see all the sugar bugs, and if you don't brush your teeth long enough all over, you'll get a cavity.

It's kind of a blur, but I had them write LOVE inside the heart.

 

 

Then they taped a dove heart on their hand.

Teaching Spanish to Preschoolers: BODY PARTS

I love movement and visuals. I tend to use both when I am teaching Spanish to preschoolers. Here are a few FREE SPANISH learning videos I use in my classroom.

Spanish Vocabulary Slideshow

WIGGLE SONG ^

Review or introduce body parts in Spanish to children with this great Youtube video clip. Near the end of the video all body parts are showing. I typically have my kids practice their Spanish vocabulary by using my laser pointer and saying the word out loud.

This song is great for review. I have my preschoolers just listen to the song. The song is a little to fast to sing a long or "tocar los partes" touch the body part.

Sing as a fingerplay with the simple hand motions, or pass out rhythm instruments and have children play on the chorus. Or you use as a circle dancing, holding hands and walking around on the chorus, and stopping to make hand motions on the verses).

(keep a rhythm patting hands together one hand up, then the other)

Their colors bring us joy and good luck too

(place hands together, and snake around )
The firecrackers light up the night
(alternate right and left fist out with fingers opening quickly to mimic shooting fireworks).

Chinese New Year dragon/lion inspired Smush Paint project

Voilà!

 

Once it's dried, they will  glue wiggly eyeballs on their dragon/lions face and decorate it with glitter glue.
